Privacy Policy
Last updated September 19, 2026
This describes what data Compliance Layer collects, why, and where it goes. We collect what's needed to run the Service and nothing beyond that.
What we collect
- Account info: your email address, and your name/photo if your email provider shares them. We use passwordless sign-in — we never see or store a password.
- Organization data: the properties, permits, renewal dates, and documents you or your team enter. This is your business data; we store it to run the product, not to use it for anything else.
- Billing info: if you subscribe to a plan, Stripe processes and stores your payment details directly — we never see or store your full card number. We keep your subscription status and plan.
- Basic usage data:standard server logs (timestamps, IP address, errors) for keeping the Service running and debugging problems.
- Site analytics: aggregated, cookieless page-view and visitor counts (via Vercel Analytics) on our public marketing pages, so we know which pages get visited. This doesn't use cookies or build a profile tied to you individually, and doesn't run inside the signed-in dashboard.
Who else sees it
We use a small number of service providers to run Compliance Layer:
- Vercel — hosting and file storage for uploaded permit documents.
- Neon — our database.
- Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing.
- Resend — sending sign-in links and renewal notification emails.
We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with anyone else beyond what's needed to run the Service through these providers.
Data isolation between organizations
Every property, permit, and document is scoped to your organization. Other organizations on Compliance Layer cannot see your data, and we enforce that at the database query level, not just in the interface.
How long we keep it
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you want your organization's data deleted, contact support (see our homepage) and we'll remove it, subject to what we're required to retain for billing/tax records.
Your choices
- You can update or delete individual properties, permits, and documents yourself at any time from the dashboard.
- Removing a team member cuts off their access to your organization's data immediately.
- You can cancel your subscription at any time from billing.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
